We will promote good practice and facilitate the flow of information between clients, the industry and key agencies as well as helping local companies to be best placed to take on the extra workload.
Forth Construction event leads to Council Procurement Change
 28th April 2009 - Press Release
Following on from last October's "Council Tender for Trade" event at Gean House Alloa, Clackmannanshire Council have changed their procurement policy and will now be placing all tenders over the value of £10,000 on the public Contracts Scotland portal.
Head of Procurement for Clackmannanshire Council, Derek Barr stated "The feedback from Forth Construction members at the event was overwhelming in that they felt that they were missing out on a number of opportunities because they were not getting to find out about them. I am happy to show that Clackmannanshire Council are not only prepared to listen to local business needs but are also committed to providing a transparent procurement process."
Previously, contracts of under £30,000 had not been advertised on the portal but were given to companies who had previously worked for the council or were known to them. Martin Reid of Forth Construction said "Our members had made it clear to Derek that contracts of £20-£30,000 are not only the life blood of many small companies but in some cases would be the difference between survival and going to the wall. We are delighted that these changes have been implemented and would like to commend Derek and the rest of Clackmannanshire Council on making this change. Lets hope that others follow their example"

London Olympics - Do You Want to Tender for Work?

Forth Construction has been selected to deliver a pilot scheme designed to promote supply chain opportunities for Scottish Construction companies.
All procurement for the London 2012 Olympic Games & Paralympic Games will be done through the CompeteFor procurement portal and Forth Construction will be helping Scottish companies through the process.
Registration couldn't be easier and is done by visiting www.competefor.com and filling in a simple e-form. This takes no more than 2 minutes and begins the automated process whereby CompeteFor notifies each company when suitable procurement opportunities arise and invite the company to submit a tender. Once this is done then one of two things will happen. If your company meets the tender criteria for the individual job then you will be considered for work and perhaps join the Scottish companies who have already been contracted to carry out work. Or, if your company has not achieved the requisite standards then you will be contacted by Scottish Enterprise and offered help to meet the standards through its Business Gateway network.
It is a win/win situation for Scottish companies. Not only are there a proposed 15 training camps being set up in Scotland but the CompeteFor portal has proved so successful so far that the indications are that the portal will be retained by the London Boroughs, London Development Agency and others for future procurement after the Olympics. To register go to www.competefor.com or for more information contact Martin Reid at Forth Construction on 01259 226696 or email mreid@clacks.gov.uk
